OOP PHP Software Engineer
Scottish Borders, Scotland

About this job
A Scottish success story, this company have seen huge growth in demand for their software following flourishing partnerships with some of the biggest educational institutions across Britain, Scandinavia and mainland Europe.
This is the chance to work on some very sophisticated SaaS technology which enables leading higher education institutions to manage, schedule, and organise. Their cloud-based solution offers advanced and multiple functionality underpinned by highly optimised algorithms.
Led by proven figures within Scottish tech, this company have always taken a flexible approach to work, offering 3 days a week at home as standard even before lockdown - and as this is a successful model for them, they will look to phase that back in post-Covid. They find it creates real harmony in the workforce, with everyone operating in the same virtual/physical space, at the same time.
They want true "engineers" who understand the core principles and tenants of Object Oriented Programming. This role is entirely back-end focused, so we need PHP Engineers who have worked on applications as opposed to websites.
The work is highly analytical and is focused on the development of algorithms to optimise scheduling, therefore a strong maths background and even experience outside of PHP is welcome - C#, Java, or C++ are all appropriate here!
The core tech is:
PHP (or a willingness to work in PHP)
Linux (any flavour)
Amazon Web Services (this software is cloud-hosted and this is incredibly important for them)
GIT for version control
