From Resourcer to Sales Director - a Career in Tech Recruitment
This week we are excited to celebrate our very own Kane Webster, who has been with the business for 10 years!
A Bright Purple person through and through, Kane joined us as a resourcer in 2013. Taking to recruitment like fish to water, Kane is now our Sales Director. To celebrate his decade with us, our CEO Nick Price has shared a few words about his time working with Kane- as well as looking to the future.
I see myself in him
For 28 years I’ve been at the helm of the technology recruiters Bright Purple and over those years, I’ve been privileged to have worked with many exceptional people, from co-directors, sales and support people, and back office talent.
10 years ago, I was involved in the recruitment process of a young man, Kane Webster, who told us he was going to be a big hit in the recruiting world. He joined us from the hospitality sector, he was a young, rough diamond and full of confidence and his friendliness extended to everyone he came in to contact with, it didn’t matter who they were, colleagues, candidates, and clients alike, all were treated with the highest levels of professionalism, and it was obvious, people warmed to him quickly.
He dedicated himself to the task of learning quickly, he listened intently to instruction, and he acted immediately on the experience of those who tutored him, keen to have the freedom to show his potential. Even way back then, you could see this young resourcer was a special talent and destined for bigger things and over the years he continued to impress, becoming a successful contract recruiter, team leader and mentor to others.
The Last Couple of Years
And then in March 2020 along came the Covid-19 global pandemic and as our business reacted to the challenges, Kane earned his opportunity to join my board, serving as my Sales Director. The pressures of Covid on business at that time crushed many people and many businesses, but for Kane, it ignited something inside him, he excelled and flourished as the challenge got bigger. It’s fair to say that he's grown up in the years within the firm, from a young, rough diamond to an amazing front man, who leads by example, is passionate about our brand and whom genuinely cares about our people and their careers. He desires success for all and personally, works hard and smart at all times and that inspires those around him to also be the best they can be. From Junior Resourcer to board member in 10 years, it’s a great example to our colleagues who want the same success.
He inspires me!
I see myself in him when I was a younger leader at Bright Purple, and when I had more energy than I do today 28 years on! As I enter my final years at the helm, it’s my commitment to my friend and colleague, Kane, that I will work closely with him to guide him to the role of CEO. Who knows, in another 28 years’ time you might be reading Kane’s own post, talking about the development of his next prodigy.
Happy 10 years’ service Kane and as always, my utmost respect to you for your success.
Nick Price
CEO
