Bright Purple are delighted to have raised £2500 for homelessness charity Cyrenians after completing the Edinburgh 7 Hills Challenge!
Watch the highlights from our day!
It was an overcast morning on Friday 23rd July, something that the Bright Purple team were very grateful for as we stood at the bottom of Arthur's Seat, ready to take on a challenge of epic proportions.
The Edinburgh 7 Hills Challenge
Yes the day of our Edinburgh 7 Hills Challenge was upon us! A walk which until the day before we had advertised as 14 miles, only to realise the day before that it was actually 18 miles!!! (good job Abby...!). But those 4 extra miles weren't going to stop us, and so we set off in high spirits with our flag in tow, to complete our challenge and raise money for a fantastic cause - the Cyrenians - who tackle the causes and consequences of homelessness.
After 7 hours (including pit-stops!), 18 miles, 2000ft+ of ascent and one knee injury, we made it up Arthur's Seat, Blackford Hill, Braid Hills, Craiglockhart Hill, Costorphine Hill, Castle Hill and to the end at Calton Hill, where we enjoyed some well deserved drinks and celebratory fist bumps! Check out the video above for the full highlights!
Who are the Cyrenians?
Cyrenians are a Scottish charity tackling the causes and consequences of homelessness. From their community farm and food that goes further campaign, to 1-1 counselling and support, employment skills and sustaining a tenancy, the Cyrenians cover many areas that impact the homeless.
The money we have raised will be used by Cyrenians across their multiple projects, being distributed to make the most impact across communities and helping those most in need.
A big thank you
We'd like to extend our sincerest and huge thanks to everyone who donated to our fundraising. We were delighted to raise £1254 for Cyrenians, which we are thrilled will be doubled to £2508 thanks to our friends and match-funding sponsors at Zonal!
The only question now is, what challenge will we do next?!
