As you are probably aware, we are currently working hard on preparing for the changes in Off-payroll Working Rules, known as ‘IR35’, in April 2020. As part of these preparations we invited our current contractors to an event on the subject – there was a morning slot with some continental breakfast (for the early risers) and an evening slot with pizza. It’s important to fuel up before listening to a session on Tax!
Kal Sangha, Tax Partner at RSM, has increasingly found his time being taken up by IR35 queries from contractors, agencies and end clients. Demystifying and preparing for IR35 is not easy - we are all still waiting for formal guidelines from the HMRC and the updated CEST tool that should be released before the new working rules start – this is why having Kal help run this event was incredibly helpful.
We want to say a huge thank you to Kal for helping us run these two sessions, and to our contractors who attended- we really appreciate the input and feedback which helped create a truly interactive event and meaningful discussions.
We will continue to use the support from industry bodies and experts like RSM, as well working closely with our contractors and clients, ahead of the changes. We will keep you all updated as we have more information and if you’re a contractor, we recommend reading our MDs post on some of his thought on the sessions - found here
