We have an exciting opportunity for an ITOM specialist based in Glasgow.

Our client is one of the leading financial services employers in the region at present and they are looking for an ITOM specialist on a contract basis. This contract is for an initial 6 months and paying up to £450 per day.

The role is based within the Service Engineering Team (SET) which is part of Service Design & Change situated in Glasgow, supporting and developing new capabilities on the ServiceNow Platform. The bank have recently completed a ServiceNow Event Management PoC (Proof of Concept) and require an individual who can demonstrate in-depth experience with configuring and using an ITOM toolset, in addition to other related disciplines such as ITSM, CMDB and Asset Management. The successful candidate will require experience of monitoring across multiple platforms including Mainframe, UNIX, Microsoft (SCOM), and AppDynamics
The company run a multi instance environment (DEV, TEST and PROD) including hosted and on premise solutions.

Your main responsibilities as an ITOM Specialist will involve:

Mapping out how BPPM (BMC ProactiveNet Performance Management) is gathering feeds. Create documentation on the feeds and processes
Mapping out how the IT Operational Event and Alert management toolsets are utilised - SCOM, Tivoli Workload Scheduler, Icinga, BMC Patrol, AppDynamics
Interrogate all current manual processes and provide recommendations for future automation, creating detailed requirements for a future model
Create a migration path to transfer from the current BPPM tool to using ITOM solution
Provide support to the Subject Matter Experts, gathering information and working with teams
Locate and extract any current technical or self-help instructions current held on BPPM, and create these as ServiceNow Knowledge Articles
Create ITOM Non-Functional Requests for projects
Define a feedback process for Continual Service Improvements
Knowledge of or experience with:
Deep knowledge of ServiceNow Platform and Services
Deep knowledge in ServiceNow ITOM portfolio
Experience with systems monitoring, log investigation, and application awareness
Experience with event management platforms (BPPM, SCOM, IBM Tivoli Workload Scheduler, Icinga, Patrol)
Experience with ServiceNow Orchestration and Mid-Servers
Experience with ServiceNow Discovery, Service Mapping and Configuration Management
Experience deploying ServiceNow Discovery Application
Experience in troubleshooting ServiceNow Discovery
Experience with REST and SOAP web services
Experience with scripting using Javascript

Strong documentation skills

Knowledge of Operating Systems - Linux/UNIX/Windows/VMware
Familiarity with datacenter hardware - servers, network appliances, backup hardware, etc.
Familiarity with server volume managers and storage configuration
Familiarity with user administration, Active Directory, LDAP, etc and the ability to troubleshoot areas of user access
Knowledge of service oriented and distributed application architecture in the enterprise (web services, data access and persistence, client/server, etc)
ServiceNow certification
ITIL Certification
