We have an exciting opportunity for a Test Environment Support Engineer based in central Glasgow.
Our client is one of the leading financial services employers in the region at present and they are looking for a Test Environment Support Engineer on a permanent basis.
The successful Test Environment Support Engineer is responsible for providing WAS and UNIX support for all test environment services or technical expertise to enable effective delivery of a wide range of testing commitments to our stakeholders, whilst complying with current security policy and test environment procedures.
The successful candidate will be expected to cross train in other technical areas to ultimately provide a broader support range.
The Test Environment Support Engineer reports into the Environment Lead and will be part of a team responsible for effective delivery, maintenance and management of all the Test environments.
This role will play a part in supporting changes to key technologies to support and drive forward the Test Environment Strategy.
Practical experience of IBM WebSphere Application Server and / or UNIX
Good technical knowledge of the Testing Environment Experience of providing technical guidance and support to colleagues and stakeholders
Ability to work to challenging timescales and deliver to planned schedules
Experience working within large multi-platform environments within your technical specialism
Experience of components and their use within the Testing environments
Knowledge of reviewing/updating playbooks
Good overall understanding of test environments, constituent components and their interoperability
Good problem-solving skills
Familiar with SDLC and different testing methodologies
Use and interpretation of information/diagnostic tools
Knowledge of deploying applications both from installers and as individual components
Nice to have
ISTQB Tester Foundation Level
Experience/understanding of all phases of the project lifecycle
Experience of Defect Management
