Head of Platform Engineer (Edinburgh)

Bright Purple's currently recruiting for a Head of Platform Engineering role on behalf of a leading software house based in the heart of Edinburgh. In this role you will be responsible for upholding high standards as a scalable platform is built to sustain the growth of the business.



Take responsibility for defining, upholding and communicating a clear, joined-up direction for the evolution of their infrastructure

Enable the team to get products to market easily and provide clear insights to the business through our development platform and data platform teams

Work at a high level with the senior leadership team in Engineering and other leaders in the business to understand the long-term product and technology visions, and ensure that our platform strategy is fully aligned

Lead the future direction of our infrastructure and technology platform by working with key influencers across all engineering teams. That includes leading the Operations, Development Platform, Data Platform, Analytics and Corporate IT teams

Take open-ended, complex technical problems and lead the delivery of practical and maintainable solutions

Understand non-technical aspects of solutions, such as business strategy, product strategy and their impact on budget and resource planning

Define and uphold infrastructure and systems management best practices, standards and guidelines by providing team members with regular feedback about performance



You have a wide breadth of experience developing and operating commercial SaaS products at scale

You keep up to date with industry best practices and new technologies

You have the ability to deliver designs that embrace pragmatism and simplicity

You have experience leading engineering organisations at scale

You care about people development and management and build effective teams that are focused on delivering a great experience for our customers and colleagues
